Sugar Loaf Resort is about 45 minutes north of Traverse City in Cedar on the south side of Little Traverse Lake.
Compared to the upper end golf courses and resorts in northern Michigan, the Old Course is a great price/value with lots of elevation change but not easily walkable. It's a parkland style design with doglegs left and right, a modest amount of sand along the fairways and greenside with a good variety of holes. The course opened in the mid-1960's, designed by C.D. Wagstaff, and has four sets of tees from 5,100 yards to 6,813 from the tips, the Whites are at 6,124 yards, 69.9/118 ratings.
