Northwood is a hidden gem 9 holer designed by Alister MacKenzie in 1931 located along the Russian River close to Bohemian Grove. McKenzie designed this course as a private men's club between his work on Cypress Point and Augusta National.
The fairways are lined with redwoods and generally narrow with a modest amount of sand greenside playing to small, raised greens. The layout is relatively short at 5,786 yards, 67.8/114, course/slope ratings from the back tees if you go around twice. It's a pleasure to play in a peaceful environment through the redwoods even though a few holes run along busy Hwy 116.
