Fox Hollow is part of a real estate development north of Tampa near Tarpon Springs, and was designed by Robert Trent Jones in the late 1990's. If you don't mind the 40 minute drive from Tampa, it might be the best course on your trip to the Tampa/St. Pete area.

The layout has plenty of water but it won't come into play unless your really off-line, the greens are fast with slight undulation, and there's Jones' signature sculptured bunkers through the fairways and greenside. It's a treat to play, 7,138 yards from the back tees, 74.6/136 course/slope ratings with a number of shorter tees.

The course is well done without being overdone. Also, conditions on the course were near perfect. tee were full and level, fairways were full and firm (got some nice roll) but not hard, sand traps were well raked and consistent with their depth and firmness. The greens were a pleasure to putt on, some of the nicest I've seen. They were so smooth and fast and rolled with such consistency. the undulations on the greens are very subtle, and that's the only way they could keep those green at that speed. Maybe I caught them at their best, I was first off in the morning, but I think they are always at their best. They had an army of people out cutting greens, raking traps, they had two kids in carts dragging a rope across the fairways to knock down the dew, they paint the dirt inside and above the cup white so you can see the cup easier. they do a all of the little things. I caught the kid rolling the greens on 13 and followed him in. I would recommend this course. I wouldt travel to here to play this one exclusively, it's that good

The greens were pristine (at a time when many courses in the area are having a hard time keeping them clean); the fairways were extremely well-manicured with virtually no rough spots--making hitting straight drives really advantageous, the way it ought to be; and the layout was challenging and required a bit of extra strategic thought at several tee boxes. Overall, we were really impressed and can't wait to get back
