Blackheath is on the north side of Rochester on Rochester Road across from the Blue Heron Environmental Area.

The course was designed by Kevin Aldrich in the late 1990s, and is a links/heathland style of layout bordered by tall heather or fescue rough. There's frequent sand bunkering along the fairways and greens including numerous pot bunkers with a pond and a stream impacting play on several holes. There's three sets of tees, the championship tees are 6,768 yards, (73.0/137, course/slope), the forward tees, 5,354 yards, 70.8/121, course/slope.

I've played this course about ten times this year and it's pretty nice. The only problem I ever had was rate of play. Being so cheap (the most I paid was $30 with a cart for 18), it's crowded all the time. Also, the description above is slightly inaccurate as there are Black, Blue, White and Red tees on the course. Black: 6768 (137); Blue: 6127 (124); White 5354 (119); Red 4572 (119).
