Yocha-De-He is an hour or so northwest of Sacrament in the Capay Valley about a half-mile from Cache Creek Casino Resort, which is owned by the Rumsey Band of the Wintun Indians. The course is roomy and resort like at 7300 yards from the back tees, and puts out tee times every fifteen minutes! The course was designed by Brad Bell and the first tee is from a 175 foot high cliff driving down a valley, with views over the course, the vineyard, the farm and the surrounding valley. You're now off on a interesting golf course experience. Water's in play on three holes, with the #17 green on a peninsula. Most of the par fives give you a chance to get home in two, but the par fours are a drive and a long iron in. Challenging, yet forgiving, and a lot of fun to play.

Course was in excellent condition, customer service excellent, the pace of play very well managed, just no complaints whatsoever. Saw the car girl twice, they treat you like kings here, the only problem with the course is that it's so far from Sacramento. The range itself is awesome, three levels of natural turf with six targets (real holes) in the distance. The balls are free and unlimited. The tee times are at 12 minute intervals and keep the pace cool. The course is difficult, but fair and is in tip-top condition. Water hazards are overly abundant, lakes and creeks play a role on several holes. The back nine is more scenic and more difficult (despite what the scorecard says). The back portion of the property plays through vineyards and has a unique feel to it. 14 and 15 are my favorite holes. 14 requires a conservative tee shot, providing a small opening between a "curtain" of trees and over a creek for the second shot. 15 is split down the center of the fairway by a creek. Use the Troon Advantage rate of $65.

Local knowledge required here. Isolated over a hill from Cache Creek Casino, it can't be beat for natural beauty. It's 54 miles from downtown Sacramento.Great shape, no pace of play problem.

Conditions were fantastic The holes are interesting, have a nice rhythm and variety, are challenging without being too penal, and have good shot values. The last two holes are especially good. The views are very nice, also (of course no houses in sight, as it's pretty far from anything.) Service is excellent. A great value: $85 is the weekend fee, which included cart, yardage book, practice balls, free cold bottled-water throughout the round, and a Gatorade at the 18th green. It's really too bad it's not closer to the Bay Area.
