World Woods Golf Club is in Brooksville (40 minutes north of Tampa and about 90 miles from Orlando) is one of the best, and newer golf facilities in Florida, it's just out in the middle of nowhere. There's two Fazio courses, a 9-hole short course, and an unbelievable practice range that include a three hole practice course, a 23-acre grass range with 2 adjacent short game areas featuring sand bunkers, and a 36-hole 2-acre putting course. Never seen anything else close it it. It's just over the top, and was way overbuilt in one of the last booms, thought I'd always heard by the Japanese. Pine Barrens supposedly mimics Pine Valley, and Rolling Oaks, Augusta National. It features a rolling topography highlighted by oaks draped in Spanish Moss. It's a more traditional design than that of the Pine Barren Course, with wide sloping fairways leading to undulating greens that are often framed by Augusta white sand bunkers. some 70 of them around the landing zones, and greenside, and only 2 water hazards. It also has the Augusta landscaping with azalea bushes near the tee and green complexes. They've done it right here, conditions are always very good, and an excellent value.
Not all that long at 6,520 yards from the tips, par 72, with a 71.4 course rating and a 131 slope
