The Woods Resort has two 18 hole golf courses, and is located 45 minutes from Hagerstown, and 30 minutes from Martinsburg in the Eastern Panhandle in the middle of the Shenandoahs. The Mountain View Course is the championship course, better for the lower handicappers, and plays to 6,600 yards from the blue tees, 70.8 course rating and a 121 slope. The Stony Lick course is an executive length course of 3,400 yards, par 3's and 4's, better for the beginning golfer and families. The Mountain View course is routed through the valley floor, fairly level but a few holes with elevation change. The fairways tend to be tight and tree lined, and water in play on about half the holes. It's a good quality layout, designed by Ray Johnston in the late 1980's, not easy to walk with the hills, and the distance between the holes. The greens are one of the courses main strengths, undulating, sloping, and fast. Fun and interesting par 3's, scenic course to play, my only complaint would be some of the homes along the course are too close to play, otherwise worth the trip out.
