The Woodlands is a master planned community 30 minutes north of Houston off I-45. There's a total of five golf courses here, including the TPC Woodlands, but only two are open to the public. Panther Trail is a parkland style original Joe Lee design, with redesign work by Roy Case in 2002 with nice elevation changes through, and a lot of water in play, including the 18th island green. It can play to 6700 yards from the tips, 134 slope. The Oaks Course was redesigned by Jay Morrish in 1999, features big greens, well bunkered, tree lined fairways, open and forgiving off the tee. The course is just over 7,000 yards from the back tees. 131 slope, 73.1 rating, but has four other sets of tee boxes. Not the best in Houston, but a good choice if you're in the Woodlands area.

The Oaks golf course is a gentle but interesting layout in superb condition which is a joy just to walk, far less to play. It is not the most challenging or the longest golf course you will ever play; there are no dramatic changes in elevation or scenery. It does, however, provide a top-notch golfing experience with a straightforward layout, super fairways, reasonable rough, bail-out areas and lightning fast greens. Flag Content
