Wine Valley Golf Club is in Walla Walla, far southeastern Washington. If you're anywhere near this area, this course is worth a detour, some 230 miles east of Portland. It's a fairly new course routed over rolling dunes-like land with the Blue Mountains in the background, and was designed by Dan Hixson. From the tips it's 7,360 yards from the Gold tees, with a USGA Course Rating of 75.5 and a USGA Slope Rating of 130 with three tee boxes to the Red Tees at 5,105 yards and a rating/slope of 69.6/114. It's a treat to play the course, wide open and ranging fairways, spectacular bunkering, and large, quick, and undulating greens. A must play, delightful golf course and stunning setting.

Played Wine Valley this past weekend, it was in stella rshape firm and fast conditions. Beautiful rolling hills and views, wonderful design, and best of all, not crowded. Not to be missed if you're anywhere near this area

This course gives you the option to roll or fly the ball onto the green. When I played, I used my putter more than my wedges within 40 yards of the green. Wine Valley is a 'must-play' course, you can't believe the roll you get on these firm fairways and might want to consider one set of tees longer than those you usually play. Almost every hole can be played more than one way and that makes you think. The fairways are wide and it's hard to lose a ball. Bunkers range from small pot bunkers to massive bunkers that define some holes. The greens are big and undulating. There are no homes (yet) and nice views. The prevailing wind is out of the southwest and the course was built with that in mind. The layout is nearly a mile off Highway 12 and the loudest thing I heard was a meadowlark all day!
