Wildwood Golf Course is about 30 minutes northwest of downtown Portland off US 30 near Scappoose. The course is parkland style routed over a ridge just west of the Columbia River in a natural setting with no houses or development around the course. The fairways are hilly and sloping and are definitely the course's main defense, in addition to the small greens which are some of the fastest in the area. It's a short layout at around 5,800 yards from the back tees with ratings of 68.3/113, designed by Bill O'Meara in the early 1990's.originality and pleasant scenery are a constant. Tough to shoot your handicap here, even with the shortness of the course. The fairways are tree lined, along with a few trees on their own in the fairways. It's fairly well bunkered, the landing areas are decent sized, but if you're hitting driver it's easy to go through the fairway. There's a few risk/reward type holes along with some water and sand. Overall, good fun reasonably priced golf course, hilly with some quirky holes, small, fast and undulating greens. Friendly staff, usually good conditions, and OK pace of play, but not easily walkable due to the hills.

Played Wildwood this week, and it finally is in excellent condition, after all the rain we had this spring. Fun layout, plenty of challenge, even though it's short, and worth the drive from Portland once in a while.
