Wild WIng is due north of Myrtle Beach on Rt 501 on the way to Conway, maybe about 10 minutes from Myrtle. There used to be four courses here, and only 27 holes are left after the housing development, The Avocet, and the 9 hole Hummingbird. The Avocet is 7,127 yards from the tips, with a 74.5 course rating, and 132 slope. The course is a parkland style layout, some tight holes, water in play on 11 holes, mounded fairways, and heavily bunkered, The Hummingbird course is 3,000 yards, 122 slope, designed by Willard Byrd, water in play on every hole, parkland style course on relatively flat land. Overall, a very nice experience, mid-priced to the other Myrtle Beach courses, great clubhouse and 19th hole, would return.

Played 4 courses, King's North, Dye Club, TPC and Avocet. I thought that this course was the BEST of the 4 that we played! The Dye Club was the worst, we were VERY disappointed with it, definitely NOT worth the money! The Avocet was in great shape, great greens, a fair test and a really good mix of holes. Most fairways were forgiving and there was some cool risk-reward type holes. Too bad the previous owners (Japanese business) sold the place to developers for more money and the other 2 courses were destroyed for homesites. The Avocet is a MUST play if in the area.

Avocet is the best course we played on our trip this summer to Myrtle Beach. The course was in great condition, is challenging with water in play on most of the holes, strategic design, risk/rewark, keeps you on your toes, but not for the higher handicapper. Great clubhouse facilities and service, would not hesitate in recommending.
