White Horse opened in 2007 and is part of a residential development, and affiliated with the Clearwater Casino just west of Seattle on the Kitsap Peninsula, in a wooded area surrounded by Puget Sound and Hood Canal. The variety of the holes, even though they all play through the woods is superb, the par 3's are fantastic, and the par 5's provide the risk/reward opportunities aggressive and course management players appreciate. The golf course rewards good shots and punishes a poor shot, and the setting is stunning. It was designed by Pete Dye's niece Cynthia Dye McGarey, and plays to 7,013 yards, 143 slope from the back tees, but there are 4 sets of tees for higher handicappers.

Seriously, there is no better way to winter test a golf course than in the middle of the Pineapple Express hitting Western Washington. The course drains well and as such is one of our absolute favorite public golf courses in the state. There's a nice, grass tee driving range with a lot of targets to warm up on. The first few holes played pretty well. There wasn't any mud out there or major areas of casual water where we had to take relief. The greens rolled well minus a couple spots where water would ruin the speed of a putt. It was pretty surprising considering the amount of rainfall that had come down in the previous 48 hours. We only encountered one area on the course where water had taken over, and it was basically a lake in the middle of the fairway. During the winter you can do no wrong by coming to play here, save for Chamber's Bay it's the best draining course around and offers an excellent bang for your buck.

Beautiful golf course and setting, at least until they build out all the houses. Played a twilight rate of $35, and found the golf course empty, and got around in under 3 hours as a single. Not much better than that!
