White Deer Run is in the north Chicago suburbs, in the town of Vernon Hills, the course is in a residential community between Townline and Greggs Parkway, just south of Libertyville. The course can play long from the gold tees at 7,100 yards, 137 slope, designed by Tim Nugent. Mostly an open and links type of course, but there's a few holes with some tighter tree lined fairways. The 4th is probably the signature hole, a par 3, with TONS of sand surrounding the green, and water surrounding the sand. Overall a lot of sand, water, marshes, and some forced carries, a very challenging course, not really meant for the higher handicappers. The greens fees were on the expensive side, but there's nice facilities, and the course was well cared for. The only thing taking away from the experience on this course is the houses lining most of the holes, otherwise, I would rate highly.

The course itself is very nice although not the type of place that you would necessarily bring clients to. The fact that the course is in the middle of a housing development really takes away from the quality of the course. My other complaint leads to the weak rating in the food value category above. We paid $2 for a 12 oz. soda - give me a break!

One of the best values in the area. Course allows you to score. It's in pretty good shape. No complaints.
