Wentworth's West course hosted the 1953 Ryder Cup, and was designed by H.S. Colt in 1926 and some elements redesigned by Ernie Els. The course can play to a total yardage of 7306, There are two other courses here, the Colt designed East course, and the Jacobs designed Edinburgh course, but the West and the East combined make for a good, but expensive day of golf. The courses are located on the giant Wentworth estate, a very upscale housing development, located near London, England. The terrain is demanding and the course is long and the walk difficult. The estate grounds are park-like especially the giant rhododendron plants and the huge mansions lining the area. It's a bit on the order of Gleneagles, or the K-Club in terms of money buying prestige and notoriety, instead of being a good golf course on its own. The courses are rather monotonous, and has the feel of a large resort destination.
