Washington County Golf Course is a county run course, 40 minutes north of Milwaukee in Hartford. It plays to 7007 yards, 130 slope, and 73.1 course rating from the tips, designed by Arthur Hills in 1997. Their website says this is the second best muni in the country, and while I don't play a lot of muni golf, I couldn't disagree. It's one of the better public courses I've played, and the price to play is very reasonable. It's an open links style course with fairways bordered by heavy and tall rough, routed along the Rubicon River valley with wetlands and lakes on a number of holes. Moderately bunkered, good sized greens, which roll well and are slightly undulating. Well maintained with bentgrass from tee to green, and with the newly planted trees as they mature will become a major factor with play. They also have a 3 hole practice course here. Nice facility.
