Located on the southwest side of London, England inside the M-25, the Club was founded in 1903 and the course was opened for play in May 1904. Two 18 holers here, the Old and the New designed by Herbert Fowler, and James Braid was the Club's professional. It is a a good example of heathland golf, which seems links-like but is routed through heather, gorse and bracken. The course measures championship length of 7,462 yards is currently ranked 81 in the top 100 courses in the world. The New Course opened in 1907, and plays to a championship length of 7,165 yards. The club has hosted a number of professional and major amateur events including, 1981 Ryder Cup, which the US won, 5 European Opens, and 23 Match Play Championships. The routing is open, but guarded by scrubby vegetation and heather, and fully exposed to the wind. There's slight elevation change, the greens are firm, and bunkering is light at 62 bunkers, but penal if you happen to catch one. There's no water or OB on the course. Excellent layout overall, and convenient to the London area.

Crisp autumn day, Classic heathland with lots of heather, the fairways give it a more linksy feel, and was a pleasure to play.
