Venetian Golf & River Club is on the east side of I-75 at exit 195 in Venice. The course is open links style, routed through a tightly packed residential subdivision, but the homes don't really come into play, just visually distracting. The course was designed by Chip Powell, mostly forgiving off the tee, fairways are well bunkered and mounded, with water in play throughout. Around 6,900 from the tips, 5,000 from the shortest tees, 127 slope from the back tees. Nice conditions, water all over the course, thanks to the canals, lakes, and the Myakka River, and well bunkered. A few forced carries depending on the tee you're playing from, overall, fun to play.

A links-style feel — with undulating greens, gnarly bunkers and a near-constant breeze — make this newer course a serious but enjoyable challenge.
