Turkey Creek is another alternative for golf in the Gainesville area. It's just north of town in Alachua off MLK Blvd, exit 399 off I-75. The course used to be known as Plantation Oaks and is routed through a tightly packed residential community with narrow tree lined fairways over mostly level land. It's usually under $30 to play here, so very reasonable, the course can play as long as 6,700 yards, or as short as 5,500 yards. The course has been around since the 1970's, and from the back tees has a slope of 123, and a 71.5 course rating. You generally get what you pay for here, not the best of conditions, slow play, houses lining the fairways, but it's still golf!

Bummer, the course closed on Friday, they're trying to find a way to keep it open. While conditions have suffered in recent years, it was still a good course, hoping they can figure out how to get it back in business.
