Tunxis is a 45 hole public golf course on the west side of Hartford. It's off I-84 at Farmington Avenue. All of the courses were built in the 1960's or 70's, designed by Al Zikorus, parkland style layouts with tree lined fairways, a little roll to the land, water and sand in play throughout, with good sized greens. Challenging, not overly long, my only complaint here is the pace of play. The Green and White are 18 holes, the Red's nine. The Green course is 6,354 yards from the tips, par 71, 70/120 ratings. The White plays to 6,638 yards, 71/121, and the Red is 3,219 yards, 70.8/123. A real golf factory, but reasonably well maintained, and fair greens fees.

The course is in fairly good condition this early in the Spring, a little wet in spots, and the greens aren't trued up yet, but always fun to get out on the course.
