Two courses here, the Stadium where the annual Tour event is played and the Champions, which is usually about half the cost of the Stadium. The Stadium is billed as the largest golf spectator event in the world, and is known for the 16th , a par 3, where thousands of fans camp out around the bowl shaped hole cheering the shots. The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, and plays to 7216 yards from the tips, 138 slope. The course is an extremely well conditioned desert style design in the Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the McDowell Mountains. A lot of risk/reward holes, and a great set of finishing holes, it’s always fun to play where the pros play. The Champions course is 71,115 yards from the black tees, 140 slope, and used to be known as the Desert. It was not much of a course until they renovated it a few years ago. It was originally designed by Weiskopf/Morrish, but re-designed by Randy Heckenkemper, and is now a much better course, more low key than the Stadium, and a real value when considering comparable courses in the area. It’s a desert style layout as well, not one of the top courses in town, and you won’t be blown away by the layout, but it’s a very solid track.

The Champions was in excellent condition, greens were perfect, and we got out and finished before it got too hot. Would always play the Champions here over the Stadium, now that it's been updated.

Played yesterday, and it was hot, even first thing in the morning. First impression of the course is that it's nicer than what you see on television, and smack dab in the middle of Scottsdale off a busy highway. This can be a very difficult course, play from the tees suited for your game, and you'll enjoy it more. A good value in the summer only, winter's are very expensive. Liked it much better, like We-Ko-Pa or the Gold Canyon Dinosaur course

Absolute fun to play the Tour course for the FBR, especially the 16th par 3. Excellent conditions, not the stunning scenery of We Ko Pa, but fun and fair golf course nonetheless, rates a bit pricey, pace of play 4.5 hrs.

As always course was in immaculate condition. I played late afternoon. Course was $89 after 2pm. We had the entire course to ourselves. Greens were slow at times, but definitely were better groomed and pressed on the back nine. My only knock surprisingly is there was no beverage cart present. With it being 94 degrees today, that would have been helpful. As always, a very enjoyable round, can't wait to play there again.
