Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort is about an hour east of Pittsburgh, and 4 hours west of Philadelphia, just off Rt 22. Two great courses here in the foothills of the Chestnut Ridge Mountains, Tom Terrific, or Tom's Run is the major course and the more highly rated one, and opened in 1994, designed by Bill Love/Ault Clark. Great parkland course through some tight tree lined fairways along Tom's Run, the creek, then on the back side gets a little more open and on nice rolling land, both sides pretty built into the existing terrain and natural setting of the land. Very well designed, excellent conditioning, and a good challenging and interesting course to play, with good elevation change. It's one of the better courses in the general Pittsburgh area, possibly the state. Bentgrass from tee to green, and 6812 yards from the championship tees, 135 slope. Chestnut Ridge was designed by Harrison/Grabin and was built in 1964, and is a more classic and traditional parkland course with tree lined fairways, some pretty tight, and more open holes with a good elevation change. The greens are small to mid-sized, relatively fast and with good undulations. 6242 yards from the back tees, and 129 slope, built in 1964. Beautiful setting for the golf courses in the foothills of the mountains, great scenery, all around superb golf, conditions, and service.
