Timberline Golf Club is about 40 minutes south of Birmingham in Calera, exit 228 off I-65. It's a hilly, tree lined course, routed through a residential community. The golf course is a par 71, that plays to about 6,700 yards, 72.3/126 from the tips, with three shorter tee boxes. Greens fees are expensive on the weekends, but during the week and late afternoons, rates are lower. The course is very challenging, a shotmaker's type of course requiring placement rather than length to score well. Some of the fairways are very tight with trees, sand, and water in play. Greens are good sized, undulating and fast, and in all a very well conditioned course, not well suited for the higher handicapper.
