Timbergate is about 30 minutes south of Indy, exit 80 off I-65. Wide open links style of layout with a lot of sand and water, but mostly fair off the tee, and generally in good shape, and reasonable rates. It's routed through a partially developed residential community with a few homes lining a couple of holes, but not all that detracting. It was designed by Clyde Johnston and Fuzzy Zoeller, bentgrass from tee to green, fun, but challenging, especially in the wind. We generally play from the gold tees at 6,500 yards, 71.7/129 ratings, and there's one longer and two shorter sets of tees. The fairways are mounded and contoured a bit, the rough gets heavy, and off the fairways is tall fescue grass which will cost you a stroke to get out if you can even retrieve the ball. Challenging course, you'll do well to shoot your normal score here.
