Tigers Eye is part of the Big Cats courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation with soon to be five great golf courses, and is nine miles north of the South Carolina border on route 17. Though not the newest of the Big Cat courses Tiger's Eye is one of their best, and was designed by Tim Cate. The layout is routed through a pine forest and features up to 60 feet in elevation changes, as well as undulating fairways, lakes and a really cool par 3 island green. There's huge waste bunkers, water and marsh hazards, raised greens, and its very well conditioned. The greens are large, sloping, and undulating with bentgrass. The landing areas off the tee are wide and forgiving, it's the approach to the greens that's the main challenge here. The tips play to 7014 yards/141 slope, a good solid and well regarded course. The other courses here are Lion's Paw, designed by Willard Byrd, at 7,000 yards, 74.7/130 from the tips. Panther's Run, by Tim Cate at 7,086 yards, 71.4/142, nice course, a lot of fun to play, but not as good as Lion's Paw or Tiger's. Leopard's Chase, the newest by Tim Cate, at 7,000 yards, not quite up to the other's standards in my opinion. There's a lot of water and sand, and the driving lanes are small, a good shotmaker's type of layout, with five par 5's, and five par 3's. Better course for the low handicappers, unless you like loosing a lot of balls, or shooting 10 over your handicap. Jaguar's Lair is supposed to open in 2010, but who knows in this economy! Leopard's Chase and Tiger's Eye are the ones to play here in my opinion.

Played Leopard's Chase, and you need a much better game (18 handicap) to enjoy this golf course. Every shot requires a look of thought and strategy, it was in good shape, the rates were a little high, and overall it was just too tough for my game.
