Part of Arkansas' Natural State Golf Trail, and located an hour north of Memphis, the course opened in 2002 and was designed by Thomas E Clark, and located on the former Eaker AFB. It plays to a yardage of 7,262 with a 134 slope. Thunder Bayou has no trees, and plays like a links type course with long and wide fairways with humps and hollows, and deep rough borders. Th greens are guarded with sand, but allow you to bump and run the ball. There are four sets of tees, and for my game, the tees at 6500 yards, it's a fun, and forgiving course, and the price is right.

Supposedly a top ranked course in the state. We pulled up and the clubhouse was a run down shack. We were a little concerned, but as soon as we saw the 1st hole we knew we found a diamond in the rough. This was a championship layout at 7200+ yds. No one on the course, no houses, just an abandoned building or two and no freeway noise...it was dead silent at this place. Loved it! Course was sweet! I had 5 birdies and shot a 75! I was thrilled.
