Thousand Acres is on the east side of Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland, take the Grantsville exit off I-68, then south about 20 minutes. The course is part of a planned residential community that, due to the recession, hasn't taken off. They've only opened 9 holes, and plan to open the rest of the course in 2011, only time will tell. What is open has the makings of a good golf course. It was designed by Craig Schreiner, and even though it's relatively new was in good condition this summer. It's a challenging parkland layout through tree lined fairways over rolling land with views of the Appalachians and overlooking the southern portion of beautiful Deep Creek Lake. The course really has the ability to be one of the better courses in western Maryland, let's hope the economy cooperates, and they get the second nine open.

Course was in decent shape for the time of year. The greens recovered great from a brutal summer. They rolled super and the speed was great. The layout is nice but as I golf more courses in the area this club seems to get pushed back further on the list.
