7002 yards, 128 slope from the championship tees, 95 bunkers, designed by Tripp Davis, and is a combination of holes from the links courses of Scotland. You'll find holes from St. Andrews-the Road Hole, the Postage Stamp at Troon, Carnoustie, Moray, Nairn, Prestwick, Royal Dornoch. Great conditions, excellent service, great fun to play, and cheaper than Scotland. The course is links style with mounding dunes, tall fescue grass bordering the landing areas and off the fairways, and the greens are open in the front. Also, a neat part of the course is that they identify a particular historical element relating to each hole on the hole markers.

I played The Tribute in The Colony, north Dallas pretty easy to get to up the North Dallas Tollway. On its merits I thought it was a pretty good course, most of the holes you have never heard of, even some of the courses that they pull them from, but as mentioned: 1, 17, 18 are St Andrews and done pretty well I thought. It ranks in Golf Digest Top 100 Public courses, which means by Golf Digest rankings, it is the No.2 public course in Texas behind one of the Barton Creek courses in Austin (though for me I would rank in No.2 in my Texas golf behind Wolfdancer near Austin). But overall very nice course, cost was about $100 but they let me go solo single first guy out played in 2:15 w/ cart, lots of workers but that is to be expected at that time of the morning, as they say "early bird gets the worm...and the maintenance guys". Golfnow.com usually has one prepaid spot early afternoon during the week that is a very good rate, like $45.00 w/cart, but they never had it available to take for a single, so I had to go full freight but played really early and alone, it was fine.

Played the new course here, the Old American Golf Club, and the first tip I would provide is that you have to use the yardage book. It was not necessarily difficulty, but ball placement off the tee is at a premium on this course, and I like that. We thought it was a beautiful layout along the shores of Lake Lewisville in the Colony, we played in the late afternoon, and it was cooler, and hardly anyone on the golf course. The layout was designed by Tripp Davis and Justin Leonard. It's well bunkered, the greens are mostly elevated, but are holding well for a new course, and it was a great walk, err ride. The course is open to the public and its pricey, but perfect for what I like to call a "reward round." It's windy out there because it's so much in the open on the lake, but a very enjoyable golf course and round.

The Tribute was not in the greatest of shape, we hear the super went to the new course out there and the course is not what it used to be. Played it several times this spring and it's got some issues. I would always prefer Sky Creek Ranch, Castle Hills, and Indian Creek, Creeks Course, City course that is as good a track as there is in DFW. Do not play the East course at Bear Creek, the greens are in HORRIBLE shape.

Expensive course, pace of play was good, played in 4.5 hours. Was in fairly good condition considering the weather lately. The layout is somewhat links-like wide open off the tee, not much in the way of water, open at the front greens accepting the bump and run. The Scotland holes were well done, overall enjoyable and easy on the game.
