The Trails is a Jeff. Brauer design, and from the black tees plays to almost 7,000 yards, 74 course rating, and 138 lope, with four shorter sets of tees. Very challenging golf course, mounded fairways, water and wetlands, major bunkering, and contoured and undulating greens, bring your A game here. Not a great layout for the higher handicappers, and the shotmaker's in your group will end up in your pocket after playing here. Tee shots require good placement in order to have a decent approach to the greens, which are well guarded, and fast. The course has had its challenges over the years in maintenance, so later in the summer conditions get a little rough. GPS is extremely helpful here, yardage markers are sparse, and there's blind trouble out there, so it helps to play a few times to understand the routing. The course is north of Dallas in Frisco, on the west side of the Tollway, between Main and Eldorado, in a residential development.

The course was in very good shape. The greens were fast for this time of the year. The staff was pleasant.
