The Tradition is between new Haven and Hartford, off I-91 at Pond Hill Rd/Exit 13, on the east side of 91. The course is routed around an apartment community on the interior and tree lined on the exterior. The course was designed by Roger Rulewich and opened in 1972, and is famous for its island green at the par 3, 12th. It's a true target type of golf, blasting it off the tee will get you in the trees or water. It's relatively short at 6078 yards, par 70, 70.1/124 from the gold tees, but very challenging. Usually in good condition, pace of play's been generally good, all around a good experience, and on my normal rota for courses in the area.

Course can be a fun layout except that it is often extremely crowded. In spite of heavy usage, greens, fairways, and traps are in excellent condition. Rough, however has a lot of bald spots. Staff is cordial and there are two snackbars, one in the clubhouse and one on the course itself. A good golfing experience in spite of the crowded conditions
