The course is located north of I-10 between Gautier and BIloxi. and is part of the Palace Casino group. It was built on a 245 acre tract surrounded by the Sandhill Crane Refuge and Conservancy and the Old Fort Bayou runs at the edge of the course. This is basically wilderness with a golf course routed through it, and it isn't unusual to see deer, hawks and, of course, cranes, and other migratory birds. The course is without development, just golf and nature, with some great views over the preserve and marsh from the elevated tees. The course was designed Jerry Pate, and plays to 6,775 yards from the tips. The course reminded me of Shell Landing, although the greens there are more undulating. It's a fair and fun course to play in a setting of total isolation, well conditioned, good service in the clubhouse, and if you're staying at the Palace, 20% off.
