The Preserve is the 13 hole (that's all the land they had) par-3 golf course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw over and through a nature preserve. It's a must play if you're fortunate enough to be at Bandon, and adjoins the Bandon Trails course. It's half the cost of the other tracks, obviously takes less time to play, is great for testing the short game, and in just a beautiful setting. The first hole is very ordinary, but from there on out it was stunning with views of the Pacific throughout and a great variety of hole designs and green settings, from 68 yards at the shortest to 180 yards at the longest. Coore/Crenshaw are known for their "minimalist" designs where not much is disturbed to build a golf course, and this was no exception.

Bandon Preserve is by far the the most fun I've had in golf. 13 holes, all with ocean views, six tee complexes on each hole but NO tee markers…you pick where to tee off! (or where to make your opponent tee off). They allow fivesomes, sixsomes, booz, whatever…there is no better way to settle bets!
