Plantation Inn is just south of Crystal River, about 1 1/2 hours north of Tampa, and a little over an hour from Ocala. There's 27 holes here, the Champions 18 hole course and the Lagoons, course a shorter, quick nine layout, and both were designed by Mark Mahannah in the 1960's. Classic old Florida, southern style resort, nice setting, well maintained course, hotel and facilities looked a little dated, but didn't stay here. Usual Florida style layout with water on most of the holes, plenty of sand, and tree lined fairways over mostly level land, the championship course plays to 6,500 yards, 129 slope, very well conditioned course, especially the greens, and a layout which is challenging, but doesn't punish you. .

Course was in great shape. Greens were very true. Pace of play was excellent.
