The Oaks Golf Course

The Oaks is off I-94, a few miles east of Madison, just off the County Rd N exit for Cottage Grove, and in fact the course borders the Interstate on the north side. Excellent, championship style of layout, mostly open and links-style, but with some trees in play on a few holes. There's a good amount of bunkering, both greenside and in the landing zones, and some water and wetlands in play. It's a challenging course, but playable for all levels, depending on the tee boxes you select. It's expensive to play, especially if you ride, and it's a good walk if you don't. The course opened in 2003, was designed by Greg Martin, has a good sized practice range, and good restaurant/patio for a pot-round sandwich. One of the better public golf courses on the east side of Madison.
