The National Golf Club of Louisiana is a new course in a developing residential community on the north side of Lake Charles in Westlake, take the I-10 to exit 27, then north to John Stine left to Louisiana Way. The course was designed by Dave Bennett, and opened in 2009, but has grown in nicely, and drains well. The rates were very reasonable, the course was challenging, but playable for all levels of play. There were lots of bunkers, water, and blind shots, and the greens were fast and undulating once you were on. Lots of variety to the layout, and it was in reasonably good condition. There's five sets of tees from 5,100 yards to almost 7,000 yards, we played from the middle tees at 6,400 yards, and it was a good challenge. The development is just taking off so there aren't many homes in play, mostly natural areas and other holes. They also have an expansive practice area with a short game area if you want to just come out and practice.
