The Lakes Country Club is about 30 minutes south of Wilmington, off George II Highway in Southport. The course is a traditional layout with tree lined fairways designed by Ed Riccoboni, and built in 1960. It can play from 5,349 yards to 6,762 yards with a 72.7 course rating from the tips. There's some fairways, water in play on a number of holes, good bunkering, and small to mid-sized greens. Generally, it's well maintained, with a good clubhouse facility, and very reasonable rates for the area.

Very nice good conditioned golf course. Little signs of aeration on the greens, which probably took place a few weeks ago. However, the greens should be ready by this weekend. I really love this course, if you haven't checked it out yet you are missing out!
