The Island is 14 miles southwest of downtown Baton Rouge, in Plaquemine, and is one of the courses of the Louisiana’s Audubon Golf Trail, It's a total yardage of 7,010 yards from the professional tees, 75.3 course rating, and a tough 143 slope, but with four other sets of tees. The layout was routed out of a sugar plantation, in fact, sugar cane still grows in the field adjoining the course. There's nine lakes with water on almost every hole, 54 bunkers, fairly forgiving off the tee, depending on the tees you play, overall very challenging and well maintained. The course was designed by Mike Young.opened in 1999, and is probably the best course in the Baton Rouge area.

This course is very challenging. It is another great Mike Young design. It's in great shape and I enjoyed being out there. It's a little expensive, but you get what you pay for - this is a top notch golf course.
