The Hideout is in Monticello, in the far southeastern part of Utah, due south of Moab, and just west of the Colorado line on Route 191. It's hard to believe a course of this quality is located in the remote part of the country, beautiful scenery, excellent golf course, well conditioned, and never crowded. The course is routed along the foothills of the Blue mountains and is at an elevation of 7000 feet. There's nice views of the Abajo mountains and all the way to Durango, Colo. The fairways are mostly tree lined with Pinyon pine, aspen and cottonwood trees, and has good elevation change. The course was designed by Forest Richardson, and plays to 6,768 from the gold tees. Nicely conditioned, just a pleasure to play, and reasonable rates.

Quite a hike-288-mile, 5 1/2-hour trip to Monticello from Salt Lake City, but worth the drive to play this beautiful layout, carved out of foothills at the base of the Abajo Mountains. Fairways are lined by aspen trees, while we didn't seen one, they said there's cougars roaming the course in the late afternons. Not croweda t all, they don't even take tee times. The course features a number of doglegs and elevated tees, each hole challenging, and is quite hilly, and not walkable, at least for us. Green fees are reasonable, costing $ 20 for 18 holes for adults and $ 12 for kids. Add $ 12 for a cart. A driving range, practice green and practice chipping and bunker area are available near the small clubhouse. The greens are still slightly dry, but are clearing up nicely.

Spent one day at Arches National Park, then traveled to Monticello, UT to play their Hideout Golf Course. We spent the night so we could play in the morning. The town is small and quiet, and the golf course is spectacular, and the price was right!
