Stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island and were able to play the Golf Club of Amelia Island, a private course with privileges to guests of the Ritz. We'd also played at Amelia Island Plantation which offered a good variety of courses, but we felt the Amelia Island CC topped them all in terms of conditions and fthe quality of the layout. It's located right at the hotel property, and is a beautifully conditioned parkland style layout by Gene Littler and Mark McCumber. It's a tough, tough layout with tight fairways, plenty of water and sand, you won't likely shoot your handicap here. From the back tees it plays to 6,692 yards with a 72.9 course rating and a 136 slope. Interesting mix of holes, never boring, but a shot maker's course to be certain.
