The 36 hole complex used to be known as the Landmark Golf Club and is near Indio off I-10. The North course was my favorite of the two, and both were designed by Schmidt/Curley and the Landmark Golf Company. The North plays to 7100 yards, 135 slope from the tips, but has three other tee boxes. The front side is scenic especially with the #2 hole dubbed Moonscape, and is routed through the rolling desert hills of the property. It's very windy out here on the exposed area near where the wind-farms are, and in the summer can feel like a blow torch. There's plenty of water and sand on the course, a number of risk/reward type holes, and an island green at 15. Great conditioning, especially the greens, good roll and undulation. It's just a true desert course that follows the natural lay and roll of the land without a lot of contrived build-up. When it was the Landmark it was the venue for the 1999 – 2002 PGA Tour Skins game. Some of the better elevation changes in a golf course in Palm Springs and great views throughout of the Chocolate Mountain foothills. The South is longer by 100 yards and 137 slope, and is heavily bunkered, and a little less of a natural design, and was not my favorite, but I will return to the North. There’s some gimmicks on the front nine as they used old boxcars as a boxed culvert so to speak to channel water and act as bridges, and the burn they call the All American Canal, cutting through the course on a few holes. The back nine here is less thrilling, and really isn't close in quality or character as the other sets of nines here. The golf course was in very good condition, and the prices tend to be on the low side for quality golf in the area.
