The Den at Fox Creek is on the southwest side of Bloomington, west of the I-74/I-55 split on Fox Creek Road. It's a development course with homes lining most of the fairways, one of our favorites to play in Central Illinois. It's an Arnold Palmer, links-style design, almost 7,000 yards from the tips, we always play from the Hitch tees at 6,442 yards, 70.9/128, and it's all the golf course you will need. Lots of water and sand in play, the landing zones are mostly open off the tee, bordered by tall prairie grasses, the major challenge is the narrow and tight approaches to the greens. Water on half the holes, over 130 bunkers, it's a bear to play, and a lot of fun if you're on your game. It's technically a muni, owned and operated by the city of Bloomington, and is generally well maintained. It's expensive and slow on the weekends, but they have off-peak rates during the week. Good sized practice range, chipping green, and restaurant in the clubhouse.
