Blackthorne is about 20 minutes east of Monroeville on the east side of Pittsburgh, off William Penn Highway. It's a nine hole Arnold Palmer design that was stalled due to the recession, with plans to build another 9 down the road. The present nine holes is routed through a residential community, and is only a par 33, 2,600 yard layout from the Blue tees, good for a quick round of golf. It's probably one of the better layouts in this area, but because it's only nine holes and a little more expensive than say Manor Valley across the street, it doesn't get as much play. The course is very well maintained, has some very interesting, strategic holes, and three great par 3's.
