The Bridges is 1 1/2 hours south of Grand Junction on the southeast side of Montrose. The course is routed through a residential community that's stalled due to the recession. It's expensive to play on the weekends, but with lower rates off-peak and during the week. It's a wide open, links style of design with water in play on half the holes. From the Bronze tees it's 6,126 yards, 67.5/129 ratings and was designed by Nicklaus. Overall, it's very challenging, lots of sand and water, the greens are contoured and with a good amount of undulation. Nice views of the Uncompahgre Plateau to the west and the San Juans to the south. The course opened in 2005, and has matured nicely, conditions are generally very good, especially the greens.
