Tega Cay is a 27-hole semi private course just south of NC-SC border off I-77 near Rock Hill, SC, about 20 minutes south of Charlotte. The 3 nines are Grande View, Carolina Pines, and the Cove. Grande View is the newest and toughest, and was designed by Clifton, Ezell, the other 18 holes was designed by William Lewis in 1971. The Carolina/Grande View routing is 6,500 yards, 128 slope from the back tees, the Grande View/Cove, 6,190 yards, 131 slope; the Carolina Pines/Cove is 6,154 yards with a 121 slope. This is one of the better layouts in the Charlotte area with significant elevation change, yet not overly penal, but you do have to think your way around the course. There's some forced carries, blind shots, and tight tree lined fairways, not to mention the rolling and sloping fairways. Well conditioned, reasonable rates, and a quality golf experience.
