Tan Tar-A is the classic old Ozarks resort that's been here forever. It's located just west of Osage Beach off RT 54 on the Lake. There's a total of 27 holes here. The Oaks course here was designed by von Hagge and Bruce Devlin, and from the back tees is 6,432 yards, 72.1 course rating and 143 slope. Challenging parkland style of course with tree lined and somewhat rolling fairways and water in play on 11 holes. There's also a shorter 9 hole layout by von Hagge/Devlin of 3,000 yards, that's just as strong as the other 18. Reasonable rates, very challenging layout, not in the best of conditions the last time I played, there are better courses in the area now like Osage National or Four Seasons.

Played the Oaks, very nice layout, difficult, but in nice condition. Thought the rates were on the expensive side, hardly anyone on the course when we played. You'd think they'd reduce rates to get more play in this economy. Would probably try one of the other courses in the area before I played here again.
