Located on the southeast side of Kansas City near Raytown, off I-435, exit 67, Gregory Blvd. Swope is a hidden Tillinghast gem of a course. While a muni, the course was host to the Kansas City Open in the 40's and 50's, and most recently, the USGA Woman's Public Links Championship. The course opened in 1934, plays a short 6274 yards and 132 slope. It is routed over somewhat hilly land, with tree lined fairways, playing to small and undulating greens, with modest bunkering. It can play slow at times, but if you appreciate classic courses, designed by one of the masters, don't miss Swope.

If you like old classics, you'll appreciate Swope, a Tillinghast design from the early 1920's. Not all that long, but hilly and sloping tree lined fairways to contend with, a big boys layout, and small to mid-sized greens, well guarded. Pace pf play was crap, but the price was right.

Course was in good shape for the time of year and rates were very reasonable. An old classic with rolling fairways, small greens, and tight, without a home on the course. Shotmaker's course off the tee, helpful is you've played here before to know the best line of flight. Good short game required, since the greens are so small. pl
