Superstition Mountain has always been a private golf course and community on the east side of Phoenix, and has just recently opened to the public on a daily fee basis. There's two Nicklaus courses here, and they'll be alternated daily between public and private play. It's on the expensive side of the upscale daily fees in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, but both are excellent tracks by Nicklaus, Jack and sons Gary, and Jack Jr. The Prospector was the first course, designed by Jack and Gary, playing to 7,225 yards, 72.8/133, and was an LPGA venue for a number of years. The Lost Gold course was designed by Jack and Jack Jr, and is a links style of layout that plays from 7351 yards from the tips, 73.9/140 ratings. Both courses are routed through an upscale residential development at an elevation of 2,000 feet, desert style layouts with natural desert areas and natural dry riverbeds with great views throughout of Superstition Mountain. The development is well east of Phoenix, in fact east of Apache Junction, would make for a good 36 hole day, one round here and one at Gold Mountain, just down the road.

Was happy to hear this golf course has opened to the public. Both courses are great layots, in excellent condition, and a definite private club feel. Just a bit on the expensive side.
