Stonewall is on the north side of Winston Salem, off US 52, east at the NC 65 exit a few miles, about 20 minutes from downtown. It's carved through the woods with each hole tree lined, unique and isolated from the others. It's a short, par 70 layout that plays to 5222 yards from the tips with a slope of 100, and a 63.1 course rating, but unless you're straight off the tee, you won't shoot your handicap here. It's an extremely short golf course, and tempting off the tee, the fairways are somewhat generous but if you miss them you are definitely in trouble. This is a course where you can leave driver in the bag and plot yourself around the course. There are a couple of signature holes. No 8 is a short par three with a tee shot that drops a hundred feet or so over water. No 17 is a Par 5 that begins with an uphill blind tee shot that leaves a long downhill iron that must be bent left around trees. Prices are low and they offer daily specials. Never spent more than four hours here even on weekends.
