Stone Mountain Golf Course

Edit this info

Two great 18 hole championship courses here in the shadows of Stone Mountain, part of the park, but operated by Marriott. The Lakemont course was designed by John LaFoy, and from the blue tees is 6444 yards, 133 slope 71.6 course rating . The front nine is routed around Stone Mountain Lake with the big rock as a background with six holes where water in play. The back nine is away from the lake and on more of the inside of the park with rolling and mounded fairways, well bunkered, and parkland style with trees lining the fairways, some tighter than you'd like, with water in play on 4 holes. The Stonemont course opened in 1969 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, and plays to 6863 yards, 134 slope, and 71.5 course rating, par 70 from the tips. It's parkland style as well, well bunkered with the fingered bunkers Jones was known for, tree lined narrow fairways with tight approaches the the greens. Due to the sloping and rolling of the fairways, you really need to play the course a couple of times to get the hang of tee shot placement. Stonemont is the tougher of the two courses in my opinion, but both are very worthy of playing. Very reasonable greens fees, and well conditioned courses.
