Steele Canyon Golf Club is on the far east side of San Diego, east of Spring Valley in Jamul off Campo Road. There's three different nine holes courses here, some of the holes are through a housing development, the rest are up into the hills, and in the valley with nice elevation change up and back down. The course opened in 1991 and was designed by Gary Player. The Canyon routing is up in the hills with the greatest elevation change, while the Meadow is more parkland style, and the Ranch through the meadows and ranch adjoining the property, with water in play on only 5 holes on all three nines. Be sure to include the Canyon when you play, it's the strongest nine, and most scenic. The Canyon/Meadow is 6,479 yards; Ranch/Canyon, 6,741 yards; and Ranch/Meadow, 6,808 yards. On the expensive side, play later in the day for lower rates, it's the best time to play anyway.
