Located in Saltash, Cornwall on the west coast of England, about 15 minutes from Plymouth. Two 18 hole championship courses by Jack Nicklaus. The Kernow, originally designed by J. Hamilton Stutt in 1976, and later redesigned by Nicklaus, and The Nicklaus Signature, which opened in 1988. They’ve spent a lot of money recently on the resort and course, and the result, just stunning. Both are parkland style of courses, with the Signature the most difficult by far. A very demanding course by any standards, but much improved conditions, and softening of the layout. The layout has a number of elevated tees with good views of the fairways, water hazards and the necessity to place the ball with precision in order to return a low score. Not a single hole on the course is mediocre - each one tests the best. Fantastic conditions, the greens were superb. The tournament tees play 7,000 yards and the medal tees play 6,000 yards for a real test of your golf. The Kernow Course had long been overshadowed by the Signature, it's much more player friendly of the two, at 6,000 yards from the medal tees. Both courses in a beautiful setting and part of an overall high end resort and spa here. One of the more exclusive venues in Cornwall. The Nicklaus Course used to play host to the Benson & Hedges International. This is a real tough course & can prove quite expensive in terms of lost balls but is a treat to play. What we really liked were the addition of great leisure facilities. This is fantastic resort and setting even if not everyone in the party plays golf.
